Come down to the Orchard with me

Come on, grab your basket and let's go down to the macadamia orchard and collect some nuts.
(with my kind neighbour's permission of course).

Neat lines of nut trees.
You can hear the creek beyond, oh and whipbirds too.

This is what the nuts look like growing on the tree.
Cricket came too.
She wasn't too sure about the big Jersey Bull in the next paddock though. He had big horns.

Here's a macadamia nut still with it's husk on. It is easy to peel off.
Quick, pick it up and put it in your basket.

There's a good one. It's husk has dried out a bit more and turned brown.
Oh, I see that some native bush rats have been here too. They have very strong teeth to gnaw through that tough shell. Sometimes you see cockatoos eating the nuts here too.
Well, with our baskets full, it's time to head home and have a cuppa.
We will have to wait a few weeks for the nuts to dry and be ready for cracking open.
I have a special macadamia nut cracker to do the job......

Come back and visit me soon,
Cheerio for now,

A Cockatoo.....or three

A few feathered friends dropped in for breakfast over the weekend....

They were a rowdy bunch......

I quite enjoyed watching their antics....

Hello Possums

Good morning dear readers. I'm so excited to show you my latest stitchery out in
Country Threads magazine (Vol 14, No 1).
A possum stitchery!
(can you see it there on the front page?)

He's a cheeky little chap!
I wonder where he is off to, with his lantern to light the way....
perhaps he is going to a bush dance.

Do you have possums at your place?

Cheerio for now,

Sandi x
