Last weekend, we packed up a picnic lunch and went with friends for a drive up to Double Island Point along the beach. The weather was superb!
The long stretch of beach is very popular with fisherman.
There were several goannas lurking in the picnic area. We do not feed them, as it encourages them to depend on people for food.
I got to fly my kite for a while after lunch. (sorry no photo) The men went for a walk up the hill to look at the view. Sometimes you can see whales going past.
A clump of bright yellow (native) 'paper daisies' growing on the sand dunes.
A pied oyster catcher or 'pippie bird' as we know them.
It is compulsory to stop for an icecream at Mr Yummy's van. :)
Catching the car ferry back across the river to Tewantin.
A lovely day out. It is nice to visit the ocean for a recharge and relax.

i held a goanna, bigger than me, pretty heavy thing but completely tame. no one else would hold him, big chickens :p
