Just like his mum used to make....

I saw a recipe over at Spoonful of Sugar for custard shortbreads, - they looked so delicious.
I just had to try them for myself.....

I doubled the recipe.
And decided to join them together in pairs with custard flavoured icing to create
'Custard Kisses'.

Edited to add icing 'recipe':
50grams butter (approx)
1 1/2 cups icing sugar (approx)
2 tablespoons custard powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
a little warm water
extra icing sugar to dust

Beat together the butter with some of the icing sugar at first. Add in the custard powder and vanilla. Then alternate with icing sugar and a little water till you get the right consistancy (to stick the biscuits together). Once biscuits are joined together, dust over both sides with icing sugar.

Mr Roo said that his mum used to make these. (AND...he added....but these are better :)

The custard kisses are brilliant!!!
This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Hi Sandi
I know I scoffed the other day at having recipes on my blog, but man these look good! Glad you had them on yours. Make these for next Brown Owls meet?
