A Sign

A sign that christmas is nearly here.
The arrival of christmas beetles. This is the first one of the season.
He looks like he is about to wave. ^ ^

These beetles eat mainly eucalypt leaves.

We get a few different species of 'chrismas beetles' here in Australia. We most often see the green beetle (pictured above) and there is also a gold one. You usually find them buzzing around the outside lights at night time. I will have to show you a gold christmas beetle (for my overseas visitors), when they arrive.

Cheerio for now,

I do love seeing Christmas beetles. They have the most gorgeous colours and of course look different every time they move. I know we will get them later than you but I am now on the lookout.
Beautiful photos!!

Wish we got them up here... All we get are the little black click beetles and occasionally rhino beetles (those I love though!) In NSW I could just walk around in the daylight and pick up handfuls of gold xmas beetles! It was awesome!
