The Weird and the Wonderful

Weird!!!  (but beautiful)
Look what I discovered dangling over the edge of a pot of succulent plants - this huge dark purple flower!
Looks like something Morticia Addams would grow in her garden.

You wouldn't imagine a big flower like that growing from a spindly little stick of a plant. Very unexpected! There is another flower in the photo that hasn't opened yet. A very unusual flower indeed!

And now the wonderful:
A beautiful pale triangle butterfly visiting my garden. I haven't seen a triangle butterfly that is pale yellow before, the triangle butterflies are usually blue.
The shrub is a white buddleia, commonly called the 'butterfly bush' (I wonder why :) It's flowers are full of nectar. Do you have butterflies too?

WOW that flower is amazing. Such unusual shape and way it comes to bloom. That is the nice thing about cactuses rarely flower - but when they do they stun you...

I love the color of this exotic flower, it is so pretty. And the butterfly is so unique, I've never seen one like that (I think I'll never will, we don't have the right weather for them...).

Guess what? I own the same cactus! Ours has been flowering too! I have photos on my blog if you'd care to scroll back aways...not sure when I posted them! We got ours from a cutting where my Mum works. She brought it home for me and we planted it, and were simply amazing at the flowers the scrawny little thing produced! Our night blooming cactus has flowered this past week too! I must send you a photo!
We also get the yellow triangles up here, along with the blue ones. And really pale blue ones too. Unusual to get so close to them though! Spectacular photo! I must do a post (after my giveaway( on all the different butterflies up here atm. There's a plague of the pale yellow fast ones!

Sadly no butterflies here at the moment, far too cold. I am not used to seeing butterflies that shape. Unusual flower a bit like a tulip.

The succulents tend to bloom big flowers, isn´t it to grab flies?
