Oooh isn't this beautiful beetle so shiny and green.
It is a Green Scarab Beetle (diphucephala sp.). Found it this morning and just had to take it's photo to show you. I love it's irredescent green colour.
Oh my! You mean we actually have these guys here in QLD? Wow! I'm totally keeping my eyes out from now on! Can I mention that I've only been following you for a month, but when I first found your blog I went right back to where you first started, and couldn't stop reading! I just love your garden, the animals you find (and your own) your gardens and all the fantastic stuff you make! You're a fantastic photographer!! I only wish you'd blog more often! lol Thankyou for starting your blog because I just love it!
Someone gave my daughter a stack of old National Geographic magazines a while ago and one had a cover article on Scarab beetles. What an amazing variety of colors and shapes. She (and I) was fascinated. Some people collect them and the rarer ones are worth hundreds of dollars! ~Jenny~

It's a beautiful colour! I love the old christmas beetles, don't see them much in Tassie. Used to see heaps in Brisbane.
