Endangered butterfly

Yesterday, I spied a rare Richmond Birdwing butterfly in our garden. They have very beautiful markings and colours on their wings. When they are open, the wings are black with irridescent green markings, so pretty. I have planted out their special vines as a host plant for their caterpillars, it is a rainforest plant. They are endangered because of loss of habitat, so there is a program to replant the vines by various landcare groups. It is good to see them coming back again.
Cheers,
Sandi xx

Love your blog. Looked through posts from the last few months. I especially like the pictures of the plants and animals around your house. Very different from Texas.
