Twin Waters

DH and I spent the weekend away (it was our wedding anniversary). We stayed at Twin Waters resort just north of Maroochydore. The weather was lovely, still a little too cool to swim though.

Mr Pelican was keeping watch over the kayaks.

There were some children having a swim. Not sure if the pool was heated.


I liked the decor at this restaurant (particularly the lightshades). The restaurant overlooked the pool. We had drinks here Saturday afternoon, very nice.

We went for a walk around the lake in the afternoon. Lily's Restaurant is built out over the water.

Around the Garden

I thought I'd show you a few garden photos. Here is my Tea rose, Duchess de Brabant. I loved this description of her - "The cupped pink flowers have a cabbagey roundness to them, as if picked from a luscious old rose painting". ( in 'Guide to Antique Roses' at http://www.roseinfo.com/ )

One of the ferns in my 'tropical' garden. I can't remember it's name but it seems to be growing nicely in the dappled shade.

Dash was following me around the garden, probably wondering what I was doing. So I took her photo too. (It's a little blurry, sorry) We are training Dash to chase off the native brush turkeys. We get a gang of brush turkeys come through our garden in the mornings, raking out the mulch as they go, a bit annoying having to rake it back again. I think Dash enjoys chasing them, as she receives lots of praise and always gets a reward. (Don't worry, she never catches them, they can fly straight up a tree or over a fence!)

Sunday Markets

DH and I went to the Jetty Markets along the Redcliffe foreshore today. The weather was just perfect, around 21 degrees C, sunny skies and the water a clear blue. I bought some lovely swarovski crystal earrings - very sparkly and girly.

After visiting the markets and starting to get a little hungry, (DH already had a german sausage in a bun at the markets) we found an Indian cafe called Kashmir, down the road. We shared a delicious platter together, (tandoori kebabs, fish cakes, samosas and accompaniments) and even had room for dessert (little lemon meringue tarts). A lovely day out.
